Question - installed new power supply unit. New sata cable prevented pc from powering on. Old cable, no problems. It's it ok to keep using the old cable?

Old power supply failed. Installed new power supply and noticed both the peripheral and sata cables had a different pin arrangement, 5 vs 4 on the old.

Computer would not power up. Disconnected sata and peripheral cables as they were the odd ones. Computer powered up and booted just fine.

But of course, my d drive was missing.

Switched to old cable. Computer powered up. D drive was working.

So..... can I just keep using the old cable?
