(Spoilers Extended) Too much prophecy is bad for the soup?

EXTENDED

Since we're all distressed, aroused, and disconcerted from The Play™️, I humbly submit the following:

Does it not feel somewhat...convenient...that almost everyone in Robert's Rebellion was driven by obsession with prophecy? And dare I say...repetitive? Lacking creativity?

(Imagine a version of ASOIAF where Joffrey, Stannis, Renly, Robb, and Balon were all motivated by prophecy, instead of the complex web of tangled politics, personal resentments, and ambitions that make analysis and debate so dynamic.)

Dare I say...I almost begin to understand why D&D preferred to focus on Lannister political scheming to the point of making Cersei a bigger villain than the Others. "Prophecy" as a motivation for characters' decisions only goes so far! And it is arguably less interesting than having multiple characters whose bad decisions stem from their unique flaws, rather than their prophecy-analyzing abilities.
