Help me decide where to move! 25 year old social worker with a desire for more community

One year ago i decided to move from FL to Roanoke VA for a job opportunity post grad. I am a 25 y/o female and i am a medical social worker. i do like the surrounding nature and i like the vintage feel, but the city is definitely not for me. i can’t make meaningful friendships because everyone is married with kids or older (40s+), the homeless population is out of proportion with the size of the city, not many job opportunities, a pitiful downtown, and pretty much nothing to do unless you’re hiking. i feel trapped and like there is no room for growth personally and career wise.

i would love to be in a walkable city (though it is not an absolute MUST). Close proximity to nature is also a plus. More job opportunities for people in social work/healthcare. Weather is not a big deal to me. would love to be surrounded by people my age as well.

Places i’m HIGHLY considering:

Philly
Portland
Washington state
Chicago (nervous about the weather though..)
South Carolina (Near Myrtle Beach or Charleston)

Philly has been at the top of my list but the crime and hearing how “dirty” the city is has been making me nervous to take that leap. Although i do hear it is neighborhood dependent.

Any thoughts from people who have lived in any of the places listed??
