Looking for an experienced Blender user willing to mentor me on cleaning 3D scans (non-profit project)

Unsolved

Hi everyone,

I’m completely new to Blender. Over the last few days I’ve been working through tutorials and experimenting on my own, so I’ve managed to get a bit of a workflow going, but I still feel like I’m probably doing many things the hard way.

I’m currently working on a project for a non-profit foundation that is in the process of being established.
The goal is to create high-quality 3D printed memorials for families who have lost their baby.

The scans are made with a 3d scanner and typically include the baby together with blankets, hats, baskets, scan artifacts and overlapping geometry.

The final print will become a relief mounted on a backing plate, so the workflow is quite different from creating a normal 3D model.

At the moment I’m trying to figure out the best way to clean and isolate the baby from the raw scan while preserving as much detail as possible.

Rather than asking dozens of separate questions here, I’m hoping someone with experience in Blender, scan cleanup or 3D printing would be willing to answer a few questions through Reddit DM. I can also share screenshots or even the mesh itself if that makes it easier to explain.

One question in general would be if AI could play a role in this? Are there any good Blender addons that make use of AI in cleaning up 3d scans?

My long-term goal is to develop a reliable workflow that makes this process much faster.

If anyone is willing to help or point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!
