Pet ( dog) travel in IRCTC July26 Pune-Hyderabad Return.
- Travelled by PUNE BBS SF EXP and Duronto.
- We were four passengers so booked 4 tickets on one PNR.
- 48 hours ahead, wrote an email to the Pune Sr.DCM gmail email id (all rail.net emails indicated on the web for Pune end as well Hyderabad failed to deliver) requesting for Cabin allotment due to pet travel.
- Took a Vet clearance and carried it along with a copy of vaccinations.
- 10 hours prior chart was prepared and cabin allocated.
- Went online to irctc site and used the pet booking workflow. Very basic workflow but serves the purpose. Options limited to CAT & DOGS only. It did have quantity to choose from. It wont go ahead if our pnr is not allocated with a cabin or coupe. Didn't ask for the weight of the dog, nor the dogs documentations. Only my aadhar no. Paid 301/-Rs. Received a confirmation on email ( could not comprehend 90% of the contents of the document). Regardless served its purpose.
- Boarded the train along with the pet on date of travel. Ticket Collector who visited said I have both a cat and a dog listed on my ticket- Am not sure how that happened :-)
- Pretty much the same on the way back - only that the attendant was kind enough to give a nice small warm blanket for the pet.
