I am scared and need opinions about my Bartholin abscess and marsupialization.

Hi everyone,

I developed a Bartholin cyst that turned into an abscess. It was about 4–5 cm in size and had been there for around 5 days. Two days ago, my gynecologist drained it using a needle (not a large incision).

Since then, the pus has been draining continuously, but the swelling has gone down a lot and the pain is much better. It seems to be healing well.

When my gynecologist drained it, they mentioned that I might need marsupialization. Now that the swelling is almost gone and I'm feeling much better, I'm wondering:

- Do I still need marsupialization, or can it be avoided if the abscess heals completely?

- Has anyone recovered after simple drainage without needing marsupialization?

- Will a Bartholin cyst keep coming back for the rest of my life?

- Even if I have marsupialization, is it still possible for the cyst or abscess to recur?

I'm feeling really anxious and scared, and I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice.
