The book that helped me most with the anxiety side of PPPD

Research

I have PPPD and tracked my symptoms for years. The dizziness was hard, but honestly the anxiety around it was worse. Constant body scanning, dreading busy shops, panicking every time the floor felt slightly off.

What helped was an old book by Dr. Claire Weekes called Hope and Help for Your Nerves. She was a physician writing in the sixties, long before PPPD was a diagnosis, but she understood the fear loop perfectly. Fear of the symptom keeps the symptom alive.

Her other book, Peace from Nervous Suffering, has a chapter on dizziness and unsteadiness that felt uncomfortably accurate.

Her method is face, accept, float, let time pass. It sounds almost insultingly simple. It took me a long time to understand that the struggling is the problem.

Not medical advice, and not a replacement for vestibular rehab. Just the thing that finally made the anxiety side manageable for me, give it a try.
