AITA for asking my sister to pay to use my kitchen for her business?
I (29F) run a small home bakery. Took me two years to save up for my mixer, sheet pans, and proofing box, and this is basically my whole income now.
My sister Priya (32F) started a meal-prep side business a few months ago. She doesn't have kitchen space, so I let her use mine on Sundays. Fine at first, just a few trays in my oven.
Then it grew. Now she shows up with coolers of food, runs my mixer for hours, uses my pans, my proofing box, even my parchment and piping bags without asking. My utility bill jumped, and twice I've had to buy new supplies because hers ran out mid-week.
So I told her: either bring your own consumables or Venmo me $40 a week for wear and utilities. She flipped, said I was "nickel and diming family," and brought up how she used to drive me to work in college for free.
I said that's different, that was a favor, this is her business expense. Now she's telling Mom I'm being cold about money, and Mom thinks I should just let it go.
She still hasn't paid or brought supplies. She wants to come again this Sunday.
AITA for asking her to pay up?
