Thinking of getting insurance

Advice Needed

Hi!

So just as the title says. I came across 3 rescue kittens, and we decided we wanted to try and keep them. Ontop of the 2 we already have, since they bonded so well with us and our other animals.

So, naturally I was thinking of vet expenses, one of our cats is 12, the other 6 and now kittens.

Trupanion is what is reccomended where i live. And as such the cheapest plan (for emergencies, what i can afford to cover everyone) is around $40 a month per animal which comes out to less than 200.

Varying deductibles obviously but 90% reimbursement on everyone. My senior has the highest dectucable, obviously.

I'm wondering, is it worth it? My cats are indoor only. I want to build them a patio next summer. The older two are harness trained (the senior hates it). The kittens will be as well.

I know anything can happen, but my question is more so. Is it better to put that money away and have it on hand?

I seen they pay back, so my concern is what happens if I don't have the money when an emergency strikes as all of it went into insurance. Then I still can't pay for treatment and am fucked.

My goal was to have at least 1k emergency fund per animal put away once I start my new job. Then add onto it as much as i can. (Though i need to pay for spay and neuters first).

Im hoping to hear from others who have insurance with this company, or anyone in general. I am a true helicopter parent and once made my mom come look at the female kitten to make sure her vaginas was okay and I didn't need to call my vet and panic.

(She has dark skin, its a vagina, it is fine)

Thank you! :)
