Sailor Tattoos... in space? Thinking of replacements for the sparrow tattoo for space marines

Hello lovely people!

I am working on a space captain design right now and I want him to be covered in "sailor" tattoos but obviously they gotta be space themed!

I've already come up with:

• constellation from their home so they can find their way home (similar to the compass)

• Constellation of different animals to represent crossing certain mile stones/places

• a spaceship/rocket (inspired by NASA patches) to replace the fully rigged ship

The thing is I kinda want to lift an idea from an old pirate character that was covered all over in sparrows due to the massive distances they had sailed but I can't think of a replacement for a sparrow that would look as nice tattooed repeatedly on the body. They have scars on their body they want to cover up, while using the sailor's tattoos as an excuse.

Any suggestions or ideas are well welcomed! Thank you in advance.
