Focus on What You Can Control: A Message of Hope for Everyone Waiting

I just wanted to share some encouragement for everyone going through the I-130 journey. I know the waiting, uncertainty, and distance can feel overwhelming at times. It is easy to focus on the things we cannot control, but I’ve learned that the best thing we can do is focus our energy on what we can control right now: how we support each other, how we spend our time, and how we continue building our lives together despite the circumstances.

My wife and I have been together for 3 years, and our I-130 Priority Date is April 18, 2025. Our situation is a little different because I recently retired, which has allowed us the opportunity to be together during this waiting period. Even so, we understand the emotions that come with waiting for something that means so much to your future.

For everyone still waiting, remember that this season of your life will not last forever. Things may feel long and difficult right now, but challenges are temporary. As long as you and your partner are committed, communicating, and facing this together, you will get through it.

Try to focus on the present moment instead of constantly living in the past or worrying about the future. Wherever you are right now, find ways to enjoy the time you have, continue growing together, and appreciate the journey. The approval will come when it comes, but the love, patience, and strength you build during this process will stay with you forever. Stay strong everyone, and keep moving forward.
