What is this?

Hello to everybody,

A couple of years ago I was getting a bit of breakthrough bleeding halfway through my cycle and when having sex and went to the dr's about it.

Had a smear test that came back normal and had an ultrasound that showed thickness of the uterus.

The tech at the time hovered over my lower abdomen for quite some time and kept taking measurements and pictures so I imagined he found something sinister and asked what he's looking at.

He mentioned the word adenomyosis and then left the room. I have asked the nurse that was in the room if she knows what that is and she told me she doesn't. I had to Google It to find out.

Three months or so later I had a doctor's appointment to discuss the findings of the ultrasound. She recommended I have a biopsy of my uterus to confirm adenomyosis. I declined because I was scared and the breakthrough bleeding went away at this point.

She told me the treatment for it is either hormonal treatment or histerectomy.

I have one little boy and my biggest wish is to have a second one..I wasn't successful so far in getting pregnant.

For a couple of months now, I am experiencing breakthrough bleeding again and brown discharge nearly all month around. My period came about 5 days early this month, my boobs started getting very very sore when the discharge started as well. This is obviously getting much more intense.

Should I still blame adenomyosis for this or could it be something else? I am currently out of the country and due to return on two days so I will go back to the doctor's.

Wondering what all you ladies experience and symptoms with this was and what treatment you chose having?
