VLS-TS Long stay Student Visa — what exact accommodation documents did you submit (private rental, not university housing)?

Question

Hi all! I'm applying for a French student VLS-TS (via Campus France) and have already secured a private rental with a landlord. Trying to nail down exactly what I should ask her for before my appointment.

For those who've done this recently with a private landlord (not CROUS/university housing), could you share:

  1. Did the consulate accept just the signed lease/bail, or did they also want a utility bill and landlord's ID copy?
  2. Was the lease required to be translated into English/French, or was the original French version fine?
  3. Did you need proof the landlord actually owns the property (deed), or was the lease itself enough?
  4. Was a "bail mobilité" accepted without issue, or did some people find it raised questions?
  5. Did the dates on your lease have to exactly match your visa dates, or was some flexibility okay (e.g. lease starting a few days before/after visa start)?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through this in the last year or so, since requirements seem to shift a bit by consulate. Thank you!
