Whether you plan to stay in Korea for one year or ten, we all benefit from better working conditions. Higher wages, fair contracts, legal protections, and respectful treatment don't just help the people here now—they help every teacher who comes after us.

This is why I joined the teachers' union.

Joining doesn't mean you have to agree with every decision or spend your free time protesting. It means adding one more voice to the thousands of teachers who believe our profession deserves better.

Progress isn't instant, and no one should pretend it is. But we are making progress. We've challenged unfair practices, supported teachers who felt they had nowhere to turn, and started conversations that simply weren't happening before. Every new member makes that voice stronger.

If you've ever complained about wages, working conditions, contract violations, or how teachers are treated, consider becoming part of the solution instead of assuming someone else will fight for you.

Even if you never need the union yourself, your membership can help protect someone who does—and help create a better future for every teacher who comes after us.

We deserve better. Future teachers deserve better. The only way we'll get there is if more of us stand together.

We are coming to Seosan-Dangin-Tae’an! We are excited to bring our 2026 Labor and Human Rights Tour to the western seaside towns of Chungnam. During these seminars, we will be discussing the anti-discrimination law, the abolition of the letter of release, and the campaign to raise the wages. We hope to see you at the Seosan Environmentalist Education Centre on August 22nd from 2:00-4:00 PM!
