Is uprooting my entire life the right call?
I need to make the decision of where I will finish my Bachelors degree by the end of this week.
Option one is in the city I currently live in. With in state tuition and financial aid it is free for me to attend, but I have a pretty high rent as I live in a HCOL area.
Option two is in my hometown where all my family lives. Tuition is higher but balances out to roughly how much I pay in rent/bills.
The thing is, these two places are on opposite sides of the country..2,500 miles apart.
On one end, I have been very homesick for a while and because I know I will be moving home after college I feel like I can “start” my life faster if I go there now. On the other hand, I have lived in this city for almost 7 years. Most of my friends are here and I love my current jobs, which happen to pay quite well.
Last note is that the university in my hometown is a much higher regarded institution than the one in my city now; I think it would provide me with a better education.
So, what would you do? Do you think I should leave everything I’ve built over the past several years and start fresh in the city I ultimately want to build my life in? Or should I stay where I am now because I already have a community and wouldn’t have to go through such a big change?
