Pivmecillinam and low blood sugar / low carnitine

Age 41, weight 53kg, female.

I'm taking pivmecillinam for a uti. It keeps giving me symptoms of low blood sugar and it says in the leaflet that this could be caused by the medication lowering carnitine. Is this dangerous or can I combat it by eating more sugar?

The symptoms I get are rapid, pounding heart rate, shaking, hunger, confusion, dizziness and lack of coordination. It does pass eventually and as I'm severely limited on my antibiotic options I continued to take it. However, I don't want to keep doing so if this is very dangerous. My GP wont go in to detail about it and I'm not sure what to do.
