Reliable wagons in $12k-18k range?

💬Discussion💬

Hi guys, I need some recommendations for an A to B daily wagon with good boot space for hauling music gear around. Rear AC vents are preferable (for doggo and passengers in the back) for those hot summer days.

I know commodores and falcons are a solid choice being pretty reliable with great boot space, but I'm somewhat worried about thieves wanting to steal them for a joyride (RWD, big displacement). I'm also considering their lower safety compared to FWD and AWD drivetrains.

With euros, like Audi A4, VW Passat, Volvo V60, I love the looks and better features but worried about typical euro things (water pump, high service costs).

So far my main contenders are:

- 2012+ GJ gen Mazda 6 wagon

- 2012+ (VF2 or VF4 gen) Hyundai i40 wagon

- 2010+ Skoda Octavia or Superb wagon

- 2007-2009 Subaru outback or liberty wagon (3.0 or 2.5T models seem to be the only trims with rear AC vents). I don't like the design of the later years unfortunately.

Not a fan of SUVs unfortunately so they're out of the picture for me (gen 4 outback being the exception).

Thanks for reading.
