Wants to share a poem: Metaphors
Grief is like glitter;
It settles everywhere,
catching light
when you least expect it.
Or maybe it's a ball
inside a growing container;
It never gets smaller.
You just learn to carry more.
Or maybe it's the tide;
always returning,
even when you swear
the sea is calm.
People hand me metaphors,
to “help”
None of them are right.
Because grief is only one thing:
The absence of my .
A nothingness
that exists
when it never should have.
Nothing is like it.
Not glitter.
Not a ball.
Not the ocean.
Not silence.
Not emptiness.
Not even nothing.
No words.
No thoughts.
Just the cold,
unchangeable fact—
Gone
