I have always been the type to just wear either a synthetic tshirt or maybe a biking jersey of some kind for my bikepacking trips. Usually after day 2 the thing would smell quite horrible and I would always get sunburnt due to not reapplying sunblock quick enough somewhere. Well on this past trip I picked up a merino wool/synthetic blend sun hoodie from fjallraven and it has totally sold me on this as my primary top for all future bikepacks. I wore this same top every day for 12 days straight on the trip. I washed rinsed it out in a lake on day 4 and did a more thorough hand wash with some detergent in a sink on day 7. It was great for riding in temps from 10C to 30C, kept the mosquitos and sun away at camp, and held up well to getting wet from both rain and sweat. Sure it was dirty at times but it never had that horrible smell my full synthetic stuff gets after just one hard day of riding. And I only had 1 proper shower on the whole trip so I was quite impressed with the thing.

I am not a shill for fjallraven, so im sure there are other options out there too that work better for less money. But I am super happy with this purchase and it was probably my favorite piece of gear on the trip. Anybody else use merino blend sun hoodies and have recommendations for other ones to try? I would like to add another 1-2 to my collection since having a clean one for camp would be really nice on some trips.

Sun hoodies are awesome
