How do I help her overcome her fear of moving forward because of uncertainties in the future?
I’m dating a girl, and I think she’s hesitant to fully invest in the relationship because of what comes after college. We’re both seniors and graduate in about a year. She’s told me she wants to go out of state for grad school, and I’ve made it clear that I completely respect that and would never want to stand in the way of her goals.
That said, I think she’s worried about moving forward because neither of us knows exactly where we’ll end up after graduation, and if we stay together, it would likely become a long-term relationship. She also has other concerns about the future, but I understand why the uncertainty of long distance or the future could feel intimidating. But at the same time, I’m wondering if that uncertainty is really a good enough reason not to date during the year we still have together in undergrad. It feels like we might be letting a future that hasn’t happened yet prevent us from enjoying something that’s good in the present.
