What expectations did you have about the show that were subverted as you watched it?
I finished the show recently and really loved it. Some of my expectations weren't met, but more often than not, the reality turned out to be even better than what I had expected.
- I was expecting a lot more cooking and for Walt and Jesse's partnership to be a bit more "stable". Mind you, this didn't disappoint me at all. I liked the drama and the day-to-day scenes just as much as I liked the one involving meth and crime in general and the chaotic nature of Jesse and Walter relationship is actually one of the best thing about the show.
- After watching the first episode, I thought that Hank was going to be an incompetent blowhard. But nope! ASAC Schrader is actually a beast of a man! And also very intuitive and smart! Definitely one of the best character in the show.
- I thought that Jane was going to stick around A LOT longer. I knew that she and/or Jesse would have overdosed at some point and maybe eventually break up but I thought that she would have stayed part of the show anyway, kind of like Andrea later on. But no, she actually just dies in the same season she is introduced, very "unceremoniously" too. That actually made her death a lot more sad and impactful for me.
