Sitting Ducks: 73% of Companies Admit They Cannot Handle a Real Cyberattack
Oh man, honestly? Most companies out there have all the shiny security gear, the fancy response plans, and tech crews ready to go, but when real trouble hits, they totally drop the ball. It is super wild to think about, but a huge study called The State of Incident Response Readiness 2026, which was done by Vanson Bourne early this year with 600 big-shot IT security bosses, showed that a crazy 73% of them basically confessed they would be completely screwed if a massive cyberattack hit them tomorrow. Like, they literally admitted they are just not ready for that kind of chaos.
It really shows this massive, terrifying gap between having all those cool tools on paper and actually being able to get your act together when the pressure is on. And this ain't just a hypothetical nightmare either. Over three quarters of these companies already got hit by attacks in the last 12 months, and almost a third of them got smashed more than once. It is seriously intense out there, and people are just straight up struggling to keep up.
