standing in the checkout line, milk and eggs, almost bought yen on my phone. still thinking about it
yeah, that was really annoying lol
honestly, i still don’t understand why i did that. i just left the order page open, added eggs and milk to my cart, and thought, “hmm, looks like this is the right decision.” lol
that wasn’t investment analysis. that thought had been lingering in my mind for weeks.
around March, everyone was talking about japan selling US treasuries. i didn’t know the details, but the gist of it was, “if japan stops buying US treasuries, it’s bad for the US, and interest rates will rise.” so i decided to invest in areas where yields would rise as interest rates rose. there was no reason not to, right?
but after that, we never heard anything about it again. the headlines suddenly shifted to other topics, like JPY, and frankly, i just kinda stopped paying attention for a while
checked my account recently, and my balance had gone up a bit again. although not by much, i think i still lost a few hundred dollars. this loss made me think, “looks like i’ll have to give up takeout this week.”
what i don’t understand: i was expecting some shocking news. something like, “breaking news: japan is massively selling off government bonds.” but nothing happened, and when the situation did change, no one mentioned it. it’s like a dead battery in a fire alarm: it takes forever for the alarm to go off before you realize it.
last week, i was talking to a cashier at a gas station, and he mentioned that interest rates on foreign deposits aren’t as low as they used to be. i didn’t think much of it at the time, but the remark stuck with me.
i don’t know if this actually affected the situation, or if i was just unlucky. i think everyone is overreacting to this sudden decline.
i’m the only one whose product is clearly popular, but who doesn’t understand what’s going on?
