Experiencing overt anti-Asian racism while trying to hold space for Indigenous trauma.

One time, I was sitting at the streetcar stop and this lady started yelling at me and my old roommate calling us white bitch and Asian bitch and called us the “F slur”. And she told me that there are too much of us “C slurs” roaming around and that we are parasitic. But she seemed to be unhoused, so I just let her be, because she seems unwell because of her situation. She was an Inuit woman saying she came from Nunavut and how she hated white and Asian people. I recognize the complex ongoing trauma faced by Indigenous peoples in Canada. It’s a very painful thing to do when trying to balance both realities. Me feeling hurt by overt racism and homophobia and her lived experience as an Indigenous person.
