Why is it easier to give other people advice than to follow it yourself?
I've noticed that when a friend comes to me with a problem, I can usually think of reasonable advice pretty quickly. But when I'm dealing with a similar situation myself, everything suddenly feels much more complicated.
Is there a psychological reason for this, or is it something most people experience?
