Would I be unreasonable for posting this in our apartment community group?
I live in an apartment block, and there’s a woman here with a baby. Just to be absolutely clear, the baby is absolutely NOT the problem. Babies cry, make noise, and that’s completely normal. We barely hear him anyway.
The issue is the adult. She spends a lot of time loudly shouting when trying to entertain the baby right by the balcony door or open window, and the sound echoes through the building. Some of us work from home, and it’s become really distracting because we can hear her whooping and hollering throughout the day.
I was thinking about posting a polite message in our apartment community app asking if she could entertain the baby a little further away from the door or window where the noise seems to carry. Something along the lines of saying the baby isn’t the issue, it’s just the volume of the entertaining that’s disruptive.
The only problem is I don’t even know if she’s on the community app or if she’d even ever see the post.
Would that come across as unreasonable or passive-aggressive? Or should I just put up with it? I’m trying to be considerate because I know having a baby isn’t easy, but it’s getting to the point where it’s affecting my work (and my sanity).
