Unexpected thrift score: Peterson field guides and a sealed Dramm watering wand
Picked up four Peterson field guides today, mid80s editions, which was already a good trip. But at the bottom of the same bin there was a Dramm watering wand, still in the original packaging, never opened. Tagged at $1.50. For anyone who gardens, you know those things run $30 to $40 new and they last forever if you don't leave them out in a freeze.
The field guides I'll actually use. I've been piecing together a reference shelf for backyard birds and the older Peterson editions have better range maps for my region than the newer prints, at least in my experience. Two of them have handwritten notes in the margins from the previous owner, which is honestly the better part of the find.
The watering wand I'll probably flip. Already looked up completed sales and it moves fast at $18 to $22 shipped. Not lifechanging money, but it covers the whole haul and then some.
This is the part of thrifting that gets me every time. You go in for one thing and something completely unrelated just lands in front of you. Anyone else finding garden tools at thrift stores lately, or is that regional? Feels like spring cleanouts are hitting the bins hard right now.
