Questions about a bad stay

Misc

I recently booked a two night stay at a Fairfield that was just horrible. The hotel was booked solid for a concert, so I couldn't change rooms. First night I stayed because I got in late and pretty much no other option. The next day I asked if I could cancel the 2nd night because of the room conditions and switch hotels.

The staff was EXTREMELY nice and completely understood. I paid with points so they said they would cancel the 2nd and refund the first night (i didn't even ask them to do that).

Its been over 10 days and I see the points weren't deducted for the 2nd night but the 1st night hasnt been refunded. I'm MMP so I don't want to cause an issue. How should I go about following up on this?

I literally never complain because I get such a discount that is whatever but this hotel was so nasty I couldn't even walk on the floor without shoes. It smelled like urine, the walls were just really nasty. I counted 11 patches in the walls (a simple coat of paint would've made it look so much better), ac and tv didn't work. Bathroom was clean though. But easily the worst room I've ever stayed in.

Should I call the hotel directly and inquire politely? Wait a few more days? Contact corp?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
