Can I leave a 20g stud in a new nose piercing?

I just got a new nostril piercing 3 days ago, and had a 8mm 18g corkscrew stud in it.

I accidentally snagged it in the shower and pulled the jewellery out. Within 5 mins I attempted to put it back in but it refused to go through.

I had a 6mm 20g L shape stud on hand so I popped that in there for now. It feels a bit snug but I don't know if that's just from the irritation of attempting to put the corkscrew in. I had my other nostril pierced when I was a teen with the same size jewellery and had no issues.

My question is: Can I leave the L shape in there for the remainder of the healing, or should I return to the piercer and get them to put an 18g back in? I won't be able to get there for at least another 24 hours.

I'm scared it's going to hurt :(((
