Perenne Note 1.25 - Scan Text, a default pen colour, and smoother ink

Version 1.25 is out. Three main changes, all from feedback.

Scan Text

Point the camera at a book, a worksheet or a whiteboard, or pick a photo from your library, select the text you want, and it lands on your page as a text box sized to its content. Recognition happens on device. Once it is on the page it behaves like any other text box, so you can move it, edit it and restyle it.

Default pen colour

Long press any colour swatch, in the colour menu, in your recents or in the pen panel, and a small pin appears on it. The pen starts with that colour every time you open the app. Long press the pinned colour again to remove the pin. This one came straight from a request in the inbox.

Smoother, sharper ink

Writing quickly in cursive could make a letter blink out for an instant and come back. That is fixed. Strokes also keep their full sharpness after you lift the Pencil, so what you see while writing is exactly what stays on the page.

Also in this release

The built-in browser gained pull to refresh, find on page, clipping part of a website onto your page, dragging selected text straight into a notebook, a Note taking group in favourites, and more reliable Google sign-in. Text boxes now size themselves to their content instead of using a fixed width.

If you run into anything odd after updating, report it here with your iPad model and iPadOS version and I will take a look. Feature requests are welcome in the comments too. This thread will be replaced when the next version ships, but nothing gets lost.
