Most bizarre "sleep" of my life last night

I'm quitting mirtazapine, and I'm down to just barely under half my 45mg pills.

When I first started taking the 45mg, I had some weird sleep paralysis episodes (never ever had them before). At first it was scary, then it became kinda funny, then it went away.

But last night was so bizarre. It wasn't sleep paralysis. In fact, I'm not entirely sure if I slept at all. If I did it would have been short, sporadic stage I sleep. The best way I can describe it is that I had visions. Like, very vivid thoughts that were kinda dream-like, not really coherent and would suddenly change to something else after a little while, only I was still fully able to move and open my eyes and everything. Maybe I took too much kratom and/or (prescribed) Ativan (yes, I can combine those safely), but it has to be somewhat related to the mirtazapine withdrawal, right? Like it's never happened like this before.

Hopefully, tonight I sleep better. Since starting the titration, my sleep has otherwise been a bit broken and sometimes short but overall not bad. But last night was so strange. I had the bizarre visions that didn't really make sense but seemed to in the moment. Only I was actually awake. I literally dreamt while wide awake for seven hours straight. It was an interesting experience, and if it was a one-off and never happens again, I'm glad I had it. I have a strangely decent amount of energy, calmness and clear thoughts – normally if I don't sleep for a whole night it just helps my anxiety and depression, which being awake all last night definitely did, but I've never been this alert and energetic after getting zero sleep any other time in my life (and during my last abusive relationship I stayed awake for days straight often, before that I worked 36 hour shifts straight sometimes).

Has anyone else ever had this experience where they spent literally the whole night vividly dreaming while completely awake? Related to mirt or not. Also, no, it wasn't lucid dreaming. I wasn't just aware. I was truly awake and could get up out of bed for a bit, lay back down and the "dreaming" would start again. I'm curious because this was so strange. Sorry for the long post, that's my MO, and I had to share. I'm starting to feel a bit dizzy now maybe the lack of sleep is finally kicking in. But still, experiencing that was weird. I've never used psychedelics, but it's kinda similar to how people describe some of them but not exactly. Literally more like one dream after another while fully awake. Maybe it is like DMT or something, maybe my serotonin receptors are going crazy now that they aren't being blocked as much by the mirt?
