37M, moving to Zurich from Germany – what salary should I realistically expect in hospitality?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to move to Zurich with my partner and I'd like to get a realistic idea of salary expectations.

I'm 37 years old, an EU citizen (Spanish passport), and I've been living and working in Germany for over 13 years. Most of my experience is in bars, where I've worked as a bartender, shift supervisor, and assistant manager.

I speak:

German (C1)

English (fluent)

Spanish (native)

My partner also plans to move with me. She works in logistics, has a Master's degree in Logistics, and currently earns around €45k gross per year in Germany.

My questions are:

What would be a realistic gross annual salary for someone with my background in Zurich?

Would it be reasonable to aim for CHF 70k–80k, or is that too optimistic for the hospitality industry?

How is the current job market for experienced bartenders or bar managers?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people working in hospitality or anyone who has made a similar move.
