Lata Mangeshkar

I have seen quite a few comments on Lataji's voice being too shrill for the 90s heroines and whilst everyone has their own opinions, it took me back to when I was growing up in the 90s listening to her then contemporary songs and falling in love with how magical she sounded in 'Mere Khwabon mein' or in DTPH or later Veer Zaara songs, to me she was the biggest reason those songs became eternal so these contrasting opinions shocked me honestly. I heard her songs from her prime years a bit later (thanks to my parents). She sounded beautiful to me in her youth as she did in her latter years.

I remember as a young girl subconsciously I used to think 'wow this voice makes the heroine look even prettier' , only to later hear Madhuri saying 'Lataji hai toh humari khoobsurati hai' because it's true, which other voice can make the actor look even more beautiful than they already are?

What a legend, miss her voice terribly! Big big fan of Alka Yagnik and Shreya too but like them, I also feel nobody can beat the nightingale herself.
