Tooth Infection Question

Hello,

I have a front(ish) tooth that had an abscess above it a few years ago. I took antibiotics and then had a root canal done. All was well for a few years, but last week I was told the infection is back. I am taking antibiotics for it, but I haven't been good with timing. I am trying to remember better though.

So I've been taking Amoxicillin 500mg every 8 hours and need to go see an Endodontist to have my tooth retreated. But the place my insurance covers only does root canals on molars. I can't feel much pain in that tooth because the nerve itself is probably dead, so I'm not bothered by it, but I'm very anxious about it spreading.

Is it safe to keep taking the antibiotics till I am able to see a dentist? They are very rough on my stomach, which sucks, but my main concern is making sure my infection is not traveling elsewhere. I really need to find a place to go that I can afford treatment at. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
