Sew in on relaxed hair advice
Hi everyone! I’d really appreciate some advice.
I have relaxed hair that’s been in braids for about 2 months, so I have some new growth. Normally, before getting my hair re-braided, I get my hair/roots relaxed because it makes the braiding much less painful. This time, though, I won’t be able to relax my new growth since I’m traveling.
My plan is to take my braids out and go straight into getting a sew-in. I’ve never had one before, and really want to try a new look as I’m going on vacation. However, I’m a little worried about how painful it’ll be. Since sew-ins require tight cornrows, I’m thinking that having a lot of new growth will make the braiding more uncomfortable. Also curious if the actual sewing process add to the pain, or is it mostly just the braiding of the cornrow underneath that hurts?
I’ve also heard sew-ins can get really itchy, especially in the summer. For those who’ve had them, what was your experience? How long did the itching last, if at all? Were they worth it during hot weather?
I’m planning to get yaki hair and only keep the sew-in for about 2 weeks while I’m on vacation.
Would love to hear your experiences or any tips before I commit. Thanks!
