how do you actually win an auction bid in the event and make a profit?

every time i win an auction i lose 70k or more

and every time i bid low somebody gets 5m with 300k or lower

the only times i won and made a profit was when the opponents were afk or bid 1 and i still only make like 30k in profit from what i bid
