Is Cloti purely optional in the remakes?

I'm not trying to say that I think Cloti is wrong, far from it. The game is tailored to whoever plays it and that's what makes it special to a lot of us. But for me, it feels like the remakes that you don't really see a lot of Cloti stuff? (I originally played the game as a Clerith but played Cloti just for fun to see the hype) and to me (taking out the OPTIONAL kiss and optional dialogue and stuff) It feels like Cloti's entire relationship is based around that promise they made when they were kids. Like, Clerith gets the date in chapter 14 which is mandatory on both sides. Again, not trying to start a war or anything, just curious on your guys' take?
