Crohn’s Fatigue
I need some advice/ reassurance. I have Crohn’s disease and one thing I CANNOT shake is the fatigue.
I’ve not yet been in remission since being diagnosed and I’ve been through the majority of the symptoms, but one that seems to stay fairly consistent is the exhaustion that comes with it all.
I’ve never experienced anything like it, it happens so suddenly and I feel it throughout my entire body! It mostly happens after I’ve had an upset stomach but even if I’ve not I can sometimes feel it. I’ll sleep at night, wake up in the morning then by early afternoon I feel absolutely run down and exhausted again, and sometimes it’s not like I can nap it off, I’ll lie down to try and see if I can maybe sleep it off with a Power Nap or something but sometimes I can’t even sleep, I just feel the weight holding my body down and I can’t do anything about it, it’s horrific. And then I start to feel nauseas.
What makes it worse is I feel horrible guilty when it happens, as though I’m so lazy and not getting anything done, and feel like a waste of space. I’m a young woman, and I see a lot of other people my age living full lives with jobs and never stopping and I just feel so worthless sometimes. But no matter how badly I try to ignore it, it takes over my mind and body and I just can’t function! I know I should cut myself some slack, I have an incurable disease, but I still can’t help but feel so lazy and guilty whenever it happens!
I know it’s a symptom of the Crohn’s but if anyone has any advice on how to cope with it or even fix it please let me know!
