Shoot in the 80s before shooting in the 90s

Disclaimer: I did not do this but I got very close this weekend.

I'm not new to golf, but I am new to playing golf regularly. I've played more rounds this year than in the last 10 years combined. I'm obviously not very good, with scores ranging between 100-110, but the last few times I've played i have been making much better contact and was flirting with finally breaking 100 but just always had 2 or 3 blowup holes that derails the round.

Flash forward to this past Sunday and I'm playing the best round Ive ever played in my life. I ended up shooting a 91, and thats with a nasty triple on a par 5, and a couple devastating 3 putts. I got so close to breaking 90 before "breaking" 100.

Have you, or have you known someone, who shot in the 80s before they ever shot in the 90s?
