Do we really know what we learnt in PCM?

I was thinking, we learnt PCM, to a fairly complex level, but do we really understand it? Intuitively?

Can we really go into utter basics and explain where laws and formulas came from? Or have we simply rote them?

Think about entropy, gibbs energy, biot saverts law, integration, derivation, compound pendulum, wave particle duality, what do we really understand? We just know how to solve questions!!
