Is hiking with a stranger safe?

I (early 20s, F) met another woman (early 20s, F) on bumble bff and we decided to meet up soon and go on a beginner hike. I was super excited about it at first but I realized it might be unsafe to go hiking with a stranger, even if they are also a woman. some facts about this:

  1. she doesn’t use Instagram but gave me her personal phone number. When I reverse searched it, the name and location match her bumble bff profile.

  2. I suggested the hike and the hiking trail. It is close to the city, well known, and not particularly steep based on average elevation.

  3. Her account profile is not super thorough but does not strike me as suspicious. She writes that she’s looking for friends to do outdoorsy stuff with. pics all look real, no filters, from diff angles and stuff

Based on all this, I don’t think it’s likely that she’s a man catfishing me. But the trail does go by the river, and I’m a little nervous about doing that with someone that I don’t know. I don’t want to ruin our plans, but I also don’t want to blindly trust strangers from the internet with my personal safety. What would you do in this situation to ease your worries abt the whole thing?
