Regretting my surgery
Please forgive the rambling. I’m simply physically and emotionally exhausted at this point.
I feel like I was misled. Was told 6 to 8 weeks recovery. I am 12 weeks plus and still having major issues. Started PT at week seven but only because of people on this subject, encouraging me to do so. Otherwise, surgeon would not have done it. It has helped me regain some strength in my leg, but the foot overall keeps changing and not for the better.
Currently, swelling at the bottom of my foot is a big issue, but I understand that is the case for Manny and can go on for an extended period of time. My other big issue is my second toe. Extremely tight and stiff no matter what I do. Went back to my surgeon two days ago he’s happy with the surgery… Doesn’t really seem to care about the after effects. He’s happy that the bunion is gone and the big toe is straight. So again it’s kind of like he thinks he did his job and whatever else happens because of it… Oh well.
I did my due diligence. Online, the surgeon is the holy Grail! He’s the doctor for our local major league, football team and ballet. That said, I thought I was in great hands.
He did numb my second toe, and did manual readjustment. He noticed that the toe is also leaning towards my big toe and said we could always do surgery to fix that.
I’m like excuse me? I traded one problem for another for another?
I feel like I’ve destroyed my life by having this surgery. I know I’m only a few months in, but I’m having a hard time seeing the light.
I know we are all different, but I’m hoping maybe for some words of encouragement.
