Leica repairs are getting ridiculous – €1,092 for a shutter defect
Hi r/Leica!
So I recently had the somewhat widespread shutter issue the Leica M11 is prone to having, as is shown in this video:

Sent it to Leica Germany on June 8th. Today, seven and a half weeks later, I got a cost estimate together with an explanation that states it's my fault, because there is some paint damage on the body. Yes, this camera has been used a lot and doesn't look like new, but since there were no bumps for months before the shutter defect, I fail to see how this could be related.
On top of that, they are charging me €1,092, because they don't only replace the shutter, but also the whole lens mount assembly, plus a lot of other unnecessary repairs. Clearly feels like they are trying to rip me off.
Is this normal for how Leica repairs are handled right now? Are there any independent repair shops within the EU that can handle a shutter replacement at a more reasonable price?
