Does anyone else not think Nikki's love story wasn't one about romance?

Does anyone else interpret the scene when Nikki told Bear that she was writing a love story and not a romance story that it was a non-romantic love story?

I feel like Bear assumed a love story was a romantic story as to him romance=love and love=romance which is why he asked "Aren't those the same thing?"

I feel like to Nikki, love isn't st romance but also plaonic and famimial love.
