Campus Job Hire Forms

I’m starting a campus job and they emailed me telling me to fill out a hire packet with collects info like my SNN and send it back to them via email. I thought that was lowkey crazy so I emailed them back and asked if they had a secure HR portal I could submit it on because standard email didn’t feel secure, especially with that hack scare last semester. Am I crazy or is this not how departments should be handling employee information? I’m questioning whether or not I should keep pushing and ask if they is really no HR portal for me to submit the information on or just wing it with this google form
