Time signature in middle section of Deadman.

You know the part, when the bass riff comes in. The middle of the song can be counted as both 6/4 and 9/8 and i can never figure out what's most appropriate. They are obviously weaving a 3/2 polymeter into the entire thing, which is what makes the time signature so ambiguous, but I'm curious how you think about it?
