Maybe a dumb question about starting
Hello!
I’m relatively new.
Been tattooing fake skin for about two years. Have done work on myself and some friends. Friends three times. They came out good but super simple.
My question is how do i break this mentality of I’m not good enough.
Someone wanted this tattoo design they sent, ying and hand. Simple. I didn’t like it and offered variations they didn’t like. I didn’t do it because I honestly thought it is stupid especially with the placement. I didn’t do it. Other tattoo artists told me i should have done it bc it’s practice and i would have been paid.
I just couldn’t get myself to do it bc I didn’t think it was cool/right.
A coworker said she wants this tattoo. Gave me an idea and i thought about it. I finally had an idea myself. Which i think was good. Rough draft. Shared to get an opinion and she didn’t like it at all.
No problem! I my head it’s part of the proceses, let’s refine it.
But now again it’s getting to the point where i don’t think she knows what she wants or what i would want to do.
That’s me trying to get more practice in. It is for free. I’m hurt she doesn’t like it and don’t like her ideas.
It’s a jump to work on people that is a big júrele but then client expectation. How do i get to the point where i think my work is worth while? Do i just keep saying no to things i don’t think are right it just follow their ideas so i get experience?
Sorry if that’s confusing. I’m confused too
Ty for your thoughts.
