[DRC/Cameroon] Victim of identity theft and mobile money fraud — what legal recourse against telecom operator?
DRC (fraud occurred) / Cameroon (operator involved).
I am Tuyambazz Nzarura. I was the victim of identity theft resulting in unauthorized transactions via Airtel Money. The transactions occurred without my password, without my consent, and without any action on my part. This constitutes a legally null operation due to vitiated consent and fraud (dol). The operator failed in its obligation of security of result and duty of vigilance. I filed complaints with cybercrime authorities in Cameroon and sent letters to the Prosecutor. The operator responded with formal notices from law firms attempting to silence me. I never validated any transfer. What legal remedies are available to force the operator to assume its responsibility? Can I pursue this internationally given the cross-border nature?
