Cast Iron ID. Why?

Hello everyone,

I absolutely love using cast iron cookware and think its great. Its cool to see people post things they cook, restorations, and helping others learn the way of the cast iron.

What I'm curious about though, and not harping on the people who post this, why the seeming fascination with trying to ID cast iron pans? I suppose if you found something in antique store and wanted to know for historical purposes or if you come across a really unique or rare looking item, okay. Otherwise, why? Clean it, season it, cook with it and be happy, haha.

If anyone cares to enlighten me on this and share their perspective it is appreciated. I see so many posts here about that and my curiosity has peaked. Thanks in advance. Hope your all doing well.
