Lg refrigerator LFXC229596S

Hello, this may be a little drawn out but I want to be thorough as this saga has been something we’ve been dealing with for a little while now. In 2022 the LG fridge we had for just over 5 years started not cooling. It was still in the throes of covid and LG couldn’t find anyone in our area to work on the sealed system. So they gave us credit for another and we got this new one in July of 2022. A few weeks ago we started having cooling issues again, but it seemed like it was more concentrated on the refrigerator section. Original settings were set at 0 for the freezer and 38 for the fridge. Original symptoms were freezer temps in the mid 20’s and the fridge temps in the mid 50’s. Contacted LG and they now have a tech in our area so he contacted us saying it sounds like a compressor issue and scheduled a time to check/replace it. He shows up promptly on a Thursday morning and by 10:30 he’s done. Before leaving he actually told me that even tho he did replace the compressor, he believed it wasn’t the compressor that failed but was rather a poor connection at the condenser.
4 hours after he left, the fridge was already in the low 40’s/upper 30’s and the freezer was in the mid single digits. However, by that evening at 9pm, the temps had climbed to mid 40’s in the fridge and mid teens in the freezer. He told us it may need a day or two to settle in, so we let it ride and we were definitely not ready to put any food or anything in it. Friday morning at 8am the temps had climbed back up to upper 50’s and mid 20’s. Exact same symptoms as before the repair. At this point I thought maybe I’d try to unplug it for a few minutes as I couldn’t seem to hear any type of humming or fans coming from the fridge at all. Once I plugged it back in, I heard the compressor and fans kick on and by 11am things were cooling again and the temps actually reached within a few degrees of the setting in both the fridge and freezer. When I checked the temps again Friday afternoon at 2pm, temps were back to 50’s in the fridge and 20’s in the freezer. Exact same symptoms as before the repair. I reached out to the technician on Friday afternoon to relay what information I had and he recommended just leaving it for the weekend. All weekend there was no change in the temps anytime I checked. So Monday morning we reached back out to the technician. 2 hours before he arrived we checked the temps and they hadn’t changed, but by the time he arrived OF COURSE the fridge temp had dropped to the upper 30’s, but the freezer temp was still in the upper 20’s. He checked the pressures, said they were exactly what they should be, and claimed that the over 20 degree deviation in the freezer was normal operation, and we were just “too on top of it, because there are defrost cycles that it goes through”. So his way to fix the temp difference in the freezer was to drop the setting to -6, and he left in a bad mood thinking we wasted his time. The next morning we woke up to a puddle of water on the floor, fridge temps back up to mid 50’s and freezer temps in the mid 30’s and any ice that was being made in the door and freezer was obviously melting. So I reached back out to the technician and he comes back, again. He said that maybe the pressures were just a touch low the day before and when he checked the pressures he may have released a small amount of refrigerant due to the lines of the gauges. I heard him say he added another 12 grams of refrigerant to somebody on the phone, and then left. I decided to try something since it seemed to get worse when he reduced the freezer temp setting. So I raised the freezer temp to +6. Throughout the day the fridge temps steadily dropped to 40, but the freezer is still in the upper 20’s…one other interesting thing I noticed is that most of the day after raising the freezer temp, the self diagnostic on the app claimed that the refrigerator’s defrost mode was activated. It said that for about 10 hours straight. Now I only get the “increase in freezer temp detected” which is from the fact that it is 20 degrees warmer than the commanded setting.
It seems like the technician is hyper focused on it being a problem in the sealed system. My question is that if it does seem to work at times, and the pressures seem correct, could it be a control issue instead? It seems odd that the fridge temps actually dropped after I raised the commanded temp setting of the freezer.
